SPEY SALMON & SEA TROUT FISHING AT ABERNETHY

The Abernethy water is one of two beats managed by the Abernethy and Aviemore Angling Association, offering exceptional salmon and sea trout fishing on the River Spey. The beat comprises fifteen named pools on six miles of the upper middle river Spey stretching from the Miller’s Pool above the village of Boat of Garten to the Broomhill Pool below the outflow of the River Nethy. The beat offers the salmon and sea trout angler a good variety of pools, from the faster salmon fly fishing pools such as the Miller’s Pool, Allie’s Corner and Lackghie Bend to the superb summer night time sea trout pools around Croftmore, Lackghie and the famous Nethy Pool itself. The beat also offers excellent spinning water throughout in times of higher water.

Association members have full access to this beat. In addition, day and weekly fishing permits are readily available to visiting anglers at reasonable rates from Boat of Garten Post Office.
